Original 1st/only printing 4&1/2 x 7&1/2" event handbill for a performance of (beat poet) Michael McClure's one-act play, "The Beard", held at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco, CA on 7/24/1966. Art by Wes Wilson, image is # 19 in the Bill Graham/Fillmore series (OHB-A in the Eric King Guide). Thin flat stock handbill is in near mint to excellent (A-/B+ to B+) condition; just a tiny soft bend in the lower left corner tip, a pair of flattened horizontal/vertical folds (item was folded into 1/4ths by McClure himself) and a stray handling ding or two, otherwise it's an absolutely GORGEOUS example of the BG 19 handbill. This particular example was actually mailed to a friend of McClure's in 1966; the original envelope (complete with July 17th 1966 postmark) can be included upon request of the winning bidder. A VERY sweet-looking example of the Beard handbill with a really neat connection to the author himself.
