Original 1st printing 12 x 17" concert poster for the Grateful Dead with the New Riders of the Purple Sage at Freeborn Hall on the campus of the University of California in Davis on 1/21/1971. Art by James Pierce (with lettering borrowed from Rick Griffin and a Baron Wolman photo), image is featured in the Art of Rock on page 368 (plate 4.108). Medium flat index stock is in good to very good (B to B/B+) condition; semi-flattened horizontal/vertical folds (poster was folded into 1/4 by whoever originally pulled it down in 1971) with a small split at the top center, a set of staple/pin holes (all four corners), a few small edge nicks, light handling (a few small scattered bends), a tiny surface smudge in the right center margin and a minor amount of corner wear, otherwise fine. ULTRA-scarce early '71 low-run regional Dead poster, this is the only one of these I've had pass through my hands. No tapes from this show have surfaced yet.
