Original 1st printing 8&1/2 x 11" concert/event flyer for the 1/14/1967 Gathering of the Tribes/Human Be-In, held at the Polo Grounds in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. This version of the flyer lists appearances by counterculture heroes Lenore Kandel, Timothy Leary, Michael McClure, Allen Ginsberg, Gary Snyder, Richard Alpert, Jerry Rubin, Dick Gregory, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, "all SF rock bands" (which included Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service, the Charlatans, the Grateful Dead and more). Art by Michael Bowen, image is featured in the Art of Rock on page 197 (plate 2.216). Medium-thin flat stock flyer is in absolutely stunning mint/near mint (A/A-) condition; aside from just the slightest touch of handling, a crisper/brighter example I have not seen. A really REALLY sharp example of this classic event flyer.
