 ITEM DESCRIPTION

Set of (4) original 1st printing approximately 5 x 7" postcard-backed concert handbills/cards for a quartet of 1967 concerts held at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco.

Art by Rick Griffin and Victor Moscoso, (with a photo by Herb Greene on the 56), images are numbers 51, 52, 54 and 56 in the Family Dog/Avalon series. Acts listed include: Quicksilver Messenger Service, Steve Miller Blues Band, Grateful Dead, John Hammond, Robert Baker, Big Brother & the Holding Company, Charles Lloyd, Sir Douglas Quintet, the Charlatans, Sparrow and Canned Heat)

Medium flat index stock postcards range from near mint to good (A- to B) condition; the FD 56 card has a pretty hard crease and a 1/2" tear in the right margin, along with a soft roll bend in the upper right margin, the FD 51 card has a couple of semi-pronounced thin bends traversing the image area (mostly visible on the reverse), the FD 52 and 54 cards are both fairly clean (the 54 has a couple of corner-tip bumps) and they all have a couple of light handling dings, but the set as a whole looks pretty decent, all told.

Great little starter set of original 1967 Avalon cards. These would look great framed up together.
