Original 1st printing 14&1/8 x 19&7/8" concert poster for the Grateful ("Greatful") Dead appearing with Sopwith Camel at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, CA from 8/19-20/1966.

 

 Art by Alton Kelley with Stanley Mouse (whom has also SIGNED the poster in pencil in the lower left corner), image ("Frankenstein") is # 22 in the Family Dog/Avalon series.

 

 Medium-thick flat vellum stock poster is in excellent (B+) condition; there are a pair of tack holes in the upper left/right corners, along with a tiny piece of clear tape in the bottom center margin, a soft bend in the top right corner tip, a touch of edge toning and a stray pinch ding or two hiding within the image area, otherwise fine... a REALLY nice-looking specimen overall.

 

 According to some sources, this was the same weekend that Warner Brothers' Joe Smith signed the Dead to their recording contract. Historic Dead!
