Original 1st printing 13&3/4 x 22" concert poster and 12&7/8 x 19&7/8" ORIGINAL ART (pen/ink on thick paper with overlays) for Big Brother and the Holding Company (featuring Janis Joplin) appearing with Blue House Basement and Giant Sunflower at the Continental Auditorium (Ballroom) in Santa Clara, CA on 1/28/1967.
Art by (and SIGNED in black pen by) Frank Lee Cannon, medium-thick flat vellum stock poster is in decent/used (B-) condition;there are a couple of small wedge-pull tears, creasing and pin/tack holes in each corner, a series of small edge tears/tiny nicks going around the outer margin area, a moderate amount of handling wear with a few small bends here and there, a bit of toning, etc... definitely on the used side, but still all there.
The artwork (black pen/marker on thick artist's vellum with the central image affixed as an overlay) is in decent shape; there are a few cut-out letters (the "C" of "Continental", the "i" of Holding"), along with a bit of peeling around the overlay margins, a series of surface smudges, thin scrapes, pencil notations, corner/edge wear etc., but overall it looks pretty good for a 51-year-old psychedelic artwork.
VERY COOL and unique pair of Big Brother/Janis artifacts from the earliest days of the legendary South Bay venue.
