 ITEM DESCRIPTION

Original 1st printing 15&3/4 x 20" concert poster for the Grateful Dead appearing with Quicksilver Messenger Service and Blue Cheer at the Carousel Ballroom in San Francisco, CA on 1/17/1968.

Art by Allen "Gut" Terk, image ("Ben Franklin's Birthday") is featured in the Art of Rock on page 181 (plate 2.169).

Medium flat index stock poster is in very good to excellent (B/B+ to B+) condition; there are multiple tiny pin/staple holes in all four corners, top bottom center margins and a few VERY well-camouflaged ones hiding within the image area, along with a couple of stray pin-prick surface marks, a light amount of handling wear, a few tiny edge dings and a thin stress crease or two, otherwise fine.

An overall GREAT-looking example of the "Ben Franklin's Birthday" poster. This was also the unofficial opening night of the Carousel as a band-managed venue. Check out a GREAT-sounding recording of the show HERE:
