Original 1st printing 14&1/4 x 20" concert poster for the Grateful Dead appearing with Quicksilver Messenger Service and the New Tweedy Brothers at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, CA from 6/10-11/1966. Art by Wes Wilson, image ("The Quick & the Dead") is # 12 in the Family Dog/Avalon series. (OP-2 in the Eric King guide, thin vellum stock version) Medium-thin flat vellum stock poster is in good to very good (B to B/B+) condition; there are a pair of staple holes with a 3/4" tear in the top center margin, a single tack hole in the center of the image area, a 1/2" tear in the lower left margin, a series of thin bends and tiny pin-prick age spots along the left/right borders, a touch of toning, a light amount of handling wear, a light to moderate amount of surface wear (tiny smudges/scuffs) and a couple of light tape pulls on the reverse, otherwise fine. An overall SUPERB-looking gently-aged example of this ICONIC early Family Dog poster. Almost all of the thin stock versions I have seen over the years (less than 10 total) have been pretty severely worn/used- this one had held up better than most.
