Original 1st printing 8&1/2 x 11" (yellow stock version) concert/event flyer for "A Tribute to Dr. Strange", the VERY FIRST Family Dog event, held at Longshoreman's Hall in San Francisco, CA on 10/16/1965.
Performers listed include: Jefferson Airplane, the Great Society (featuring a pre-Airplane Grace Slick), the Charlatans, the Marbles (pre-Loading Zone) and MC Russ "The Moose" Syracuse".
Art by Alton Kelley, image pre-dates the numbering system in the Family Dog/Avalon series and is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 93 (plate 2.8 -white stock version). This version is identified in the Eric King guide as FD-I OHB-D.
Thin flat stock flyer is in excellent (B+) condition; there is a VERY soft 3" diagonal bend in the upper left corner, a tiny pin-prick age spot in the top left corner tip, a thin vertical handling crease in the top center margin, a few stray soft pinch bends and a tiny stress crease or two hiding within the image area and a couple of ULTRA-tiny corner bends, otherwise fine.
An absolutely FANTASTIC-looking example of the yellow stock Dr. Strange flyer, this was the one that started it ALL.
