Original 1st printing 17&1/8 x 21&3/4" concert poster for Big Brother & the Holding Company (featuring Janis Joplin) appearing with Phoenix, Freedom Highway, Colours and South Side Sound System (featuring Charley Musselwhite) at the Straight Theater in San Francisco, CA from 9/1-3/1967. Art by Salas, image is featured in the Art of Rock book on page 202 (plate 2.228). Medium-thick flat index stock poster is in very good (B/B+) condition; a set of tack holes (top left/right corners and top center margin), a hint of toning, a series of ultra-light handling marks scattered around the image area/edges, a couple of tiny pin-prick surface dings and an ultra-soft surface stain/shadow (about 2-3") in the bottom center margin, otherwise fine. An overall fine-looking example of this mid-'67 1st printing poster from the legendary Haight-Ashbury ballroom featuring the one and only Janis Joplin in the headlining spot. Interesting design on this one.
